Bye Bye PokerRom

After 10 years of business, PokerRoom.com has decided to shut its doors. Launched in 1999 PokerRoom was at one time one of the biggest online poker sites. It was the first site I ever downloaded to play online poker back in the early 2000’s so its a big shock to see them go.

2009 WSOP Announces More Chips, Better Structure

This year’s edition of the World Series of Poker will be structured in a deeper stack format a little more than it has been in the past. With the natural aggression of the internet player changing the tempo of the lower buy-in events, the small chip stacks were not providing players with enough room to operate, and many felt that the events forced the action too early in the tournament. Asian Poker Tour Expands Macau Offerings

The Asian Poker Tour has announced it has received government approval to expand its offerings at APT Macau. As a result, the 2009 APT Macau event coming this August has been expanded from six days to 12 and has been renamed the Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival. The event will run August 12-23 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau. The APT also sponsors the poker room at the StarWorld.

Full Tilt Announces FTOPS XII Schedule, Adds MiniFTOPS

Full Tilt Poker today released the schedule and assorted other details for the site’s upcoming twelth Full Tilt Online Poker Series. FTOPS XII is scheduled to run May 6-17, 2009, and will again feature 25 events across a variety of poker disciplines, as with other recent FTOPS series. The collective guarantee for the 25 events will be $18 million, highlighted by the final-day Main Event ($2.5 million guarantee) and the star-packed two-day high roller event, which spans the final weekend of the series and features a $2,500+120 buy-in this FTOPS. WSOP Academies Two New Camps

WSOP Academies will soon enough teach us how to play poker the professional way. They do seminars where they teach people to play professional poker. Seminars usually consist of: hand demonstrations, poker odds, all sorts of tactics and strategies and many more. Recently they announced two-day camps in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

Bodog Owes $50 Million+ To 1st Technology

Famous Bodog Entertainment is popular for all sorts of people, including poker players. Some years ago their poker platform was very popular, though it isn’t so much right now. Team Bodog player Matt McCullough finished third in WSOPE 2007 Main Event and won £381,910 ($766,674 US).
