Chan Poker Closure Reason
As you all may know, Chan Poker stopped it action from 21st of august. Chan Poker announced that it will withdraw all funds to their players as soon as possible and no one will loose their money. But not everyone knows the reason of Chan Poker closure, but here it is.
As you may know, most online poker sites don’t accept players from United States. Are they racists? Hell no, the reason of this, is that Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (or UIGEA) banned transfer of funds to any Internet gambling sites, but with a few exceptions (and those are horse racing and lotteries).
No online poker in exceptions. This was the reason of many poker sites closure or they just stopped taking players from U.S, which of course affected their profits. The same thing happened to Chan Poker. It just stopped operating.
All poker players will always remember Johnny Chan, the owner and creator of Chan Poker. The famous poker player, who won 10 WSOP bracelets. His online poker room, Chan Poker, was launched in 2006, with a huge excitement, but not for long…
The site hosted last free roll on August 19. The site was closed on 21th of August and stopped taking deposits. The site will continue withdrawing money for as long as possible. At the moment Chan Poker is actively seeking an online poker site to partner with, and who is willing to buy their user database. I’m pretty much sure, that Chan Poker players will find their new home really soon.
