It seems, that PokerStars decided to end their year with an record attempt. That’s right, they even will have a Guiness team to verify their record attempt, as they are trying hosting the world’s most largest online poker tournament, this Sunday (28th of December).

On Dec. 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET PokerStars will host a tournament, which will hold up to 35,000 players. The current record stands at 26,517 players and was unoficiallly set by PokerStars. PokerStars made everything to set their new record, including lowering the buy-in price for this tournament. We remind you, that buy-in price for this tournament is as low as $11.

By the way, the most popular poker site (PokerStars) has already set a record - “The Most Players to Simultaneously Play Poker Online” in December 2007. I guess now they want to set a new one, exactly after one year. Get ready ladies and gentlemen, this Sunday looks very promising. Get your aces and chips ready, as it will be a long Sunday’s night!

All the players came to the guaranteed $900,670 table (which already had been paid in July), but they all were hungry for the top prize of $9.1 million. Dennis Phillips started day as a chip leader, with Ivan Demidov from Russia close behind him. On the other hand, Kelly Kim didn’t had much and started the game in “survival mode”, with less than 10% of Phillip’s stack. At the end of the day, it was a truly WSOP Final Table with a major twist - last two standing were Peter Eastgate from Denmark and Russia’s Ivan Demidov, who will have a heads-up battle and fight for WSOP 2008 Main Event bracelet tonight, at 10 PM local time.

Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio was very crowded. It was full of family, friends and of course fans, as final table players had plenty of time to arrange travels for their supporters. There is even a rumor, that Dennis Phillips reserved over 300 rooms at the Rio for his family and friends, and indeed, as his crowd was certainly the largest cheering section in the room. Great job, additional support never hurt anyone.

As the game began, these players took seats:

Seat 1: Dennis Phillips (26,295,000)
Seat 2: Craig Marquis (10,210,000)
Seat 3: Ylon Schwartz (12,525,000)
Seat 4: Scott Montgomery (19,690,000)
Seat 5: Darus Suharto (12,520,000)
Seat 6: David Rheem (10,230,000)
Seat 7: Ivan Demidov (24,400,000)
Seat 8: Kelly Kim (2,620,000)
Seat 9: Peter Eastgate (18,375,000)

After 117-day waiting, Peter Eastgate and Ivan Demidon began the last delay in the WSOP Main Event, as they were the last two players to stand. Then the play was suspended according to plan. Their heads-up match for the 2008 WSOP Main Event winner title resumed tonight. Demidov from Russia finished the first session of the final table with the cheap lead. Current chip count for last two standing players:
Ivan Demidov - 79,500,000
Peter Eastgate - 57,725,000

Heads-up play will resume at 10PM local time

Their new promotion is called €100,000 Sole Survivor and no doubt is a great way to attract more poker players to their 2009 Irish Open.

The €100,000 prize package includes €75,000 in cash, which will be paid in three installments through the year. The cash prize package will also include €25,000 in live tournament and buy-ins expenses.

Here is what communications manager from PPP said about their generous addition:

“The €100,000 package will be in addition to whatever prize money they win at the event, so it will be a real windfall for whichever qualifier stays in the game long enough to become our Sole Survivor! We always try to offer our own qualifiers something special for outlasting their peers; and this year certainly won’t disappoint.”

The 2009 Irish Open from Paddy Power Poker is scheduled to take place April 9-13 and has already brought attention of many professional poker players. The buy-in for this tournament is €3,500 but many players have already qualified by winning satellites and already won their way to 2009 Irish Open from Paddy Power Poker.

By the way, there is still time to qualify for this tournament, so you might want to check Paddy Powers official website for full tournament schedule and qualification info.

This time it was $50 buy-in No-Limit Texas Hold’em Rebuy event. Even though this event saw many high-profile online poker players, another player from Scandinavia took the first place - player MrHanky111.

The $50 rebuy event drawn attention of 417 hungry players, looking for a piece of this cake. We remind you that Ladbrokes recently decided to throw in some additional money into their prize and added extra $10,000 to their prize. After all the rebuys got counted, MrHanky111 took home $16,887.51.

For his hard work, player from Norway also got an invitation to play in LEOCOP Masters Event

MrHanky111 became a leader right after the finale table started. He started leading in cheaps after he crushed his opponent’s pocket nines with pocket aces.

According to Ladbrokes, after they added $500,000 to the prize, LEOCOP became very popular and is now a well known European online poker festival.

Edward Ihre, MD of Ladbrokes Poker:

“The number of players from countries all over Europe playing in our festival is really gratifying, it’s been a great start to the 2008 LEOCOP IV and day three of the 15-day event brings us the Daddy.”

The Daddy is a a $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold’em Freezeout with a $300 buy-in, which was added recently. There will still be lots of events and qualifiers for them, so you might want to check out their official website.

Already, first event has been played. Event 1, with a $150 buy-in attracted 440 players from all over the Europe, with Swedish player Hefaistos taking the first victory and winning first event.

The LEOCOP IV kicked off at 7 PM on Sunday with the rebuy tournament. Ladbrokes decided to throw in an additional cash prize of $10,000 and at the time when all rebuys were counted, players were competing for $139,750 prize pool.

Edward Ihre, Ladbrokes Poker managing director:

“This was a brilliant start to the festival. We had players from a myriad of countries play in the event, which I think illustrates that Ladbrokes is still the spiritual home of European Poker and just how important an event the LEOCOP is. We expect around the same number of runners if not more for the opening tournament in our LEOCOP $50 Re-Buy tonight, the extra juice of $10,000 added and a chance to play in the PMVII semi finals definitely makes it one of, if not the best value tournaments around.”

It took nine hours to to bring the game to top three players, and those were: Hefaistos, 26; Akolas, 21; and slim_boy, 30.

The oldest one, slim_boy, got knocked out the first, and won a $14,673 prize. Second was eliminated Akolas, with two pairs, but Heifastos just got higher kicker. Akolas won $22,360 prize.

And the winner, Heifastos, won $34,937 and a chance to play at Ladbrokes Poker online Masters Event on Nov. 22, that will bring all the winners from all events during this poker festival.

Tonight, players will have a chance to compete at LEOCOP for the $50 No-Limit Hold’em Rebuy event.. For more information about Ladbrokes and their future promotions, visit their official site.

They do seminars where they teach people to play professional poker. Seminars usually consist of: hand demonstrations, poker odds, all sorts of tactics and strategies and many more. Recently they announced two-day camps in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

Seminars offer live hand demonstrations and material that covers all aspects of No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em. From playing positions and poker odds to changing your game attitude and learning to be aggressive, when needed.

The first instructional WSOP Academy camp will take place on Nov 7-8 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. This camp will teach players first hand strategies and advices from top poker professionals, like: Phil Gordon, Mark Seif, Paul Wasicka, Alex Outhred, poker tells expert Joe Navarro, Prof. Charley Swayne (an expert in probability and statistics specifically as they relate to poker) and Sam Chauhan (a motivational speaker who will be teaching a seminar on the optimal poker mindset)

If you have other plans for that time, and you can not make it on Nov 7, the WSOP Academy will be offering their second two-day camp on Nov 22-23 at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. This camp’s professionals include: Greg Raymer, Alex Outhred, Hevad Khan, and poker tells expert Joe Navarro.

Cost for being a student in this “academy”, will cost you $1,999. Which might sound expensive, but think about all the secrets, that top poker pros will share with you. If you don’t have so much money, you can use their “Play Now, Pay Later” plan. For more info visit www.wsopacademy.com

With the recent prize boost of $500,000, LEOCOP IV (Ladbrokes European Online Championship of Poker) is becoming a premier online poker tournaments, for all European poker players. The added prize pool will definitely bring more action and hopefully, more poker hands.

Here is how Ladbrokes MD Edward Ihre is commeting their prize pool increase:

“Ladbrokes represents all that is good in European poker at present, excellent value tournaments and an undeniable community element that makes this a great event to participate in,” he said. “This festival ticks a number of boxes for the savvy player, smaller fields for bigger money, start times that suit people based in Europe and so many poker variants that you’ll find something to satisfy your poker needs.”

For the first time, LEOCOP will be running a leader boar, where the top 10 of 80 players will also share a prize of $14,000.

All 80 players will be invited to play in a special LEOCOP Masters tournament, where the winner will get a chance to play in a televised tournament against the likes of Ciaran O’Leary, Jonas Danielsson, Ross and Barny Boatman.

The 15, 16 day event LEOCOP IV begins this Sunday, October 26th, where at least $10,000 will be added to each tournament. The Main Event will be played on November 9th, with a total $250,000 added. You can still make it to win your seat to this tournament. The competition is really low, so it is a great chance for all those who want to win some additional money. You can qualify for as low as $1. Hurry up and qualify your seat at Ladbrokes!

PokerStars Poker Review

Rating: 7.9

Note: This online poker site accepts players from US!

No doubts, PokerStars is the largest online poker room in the world. Massive action going on for 24/7, will never leave you without a poker hand. PokerStars is perfect for everybody, including those who are looking for unusual poker variations, as PokerStars has most of them.

Speaking about PokerStars software, it is worth mentioning that it is extremely reliable and speedy. It also has good looking graphics, with customization features, which will satisfy every user. You can easily upload a picture for your avatar, which will be shown when you will play. The software also offers grea multi-table features.

It is shame not to mention all poker variations PokerStars offers. At this room you can (of course not mentioning the classic Texas Hold’em) No-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo games, H.O.R.S.E., H.O.S.E., 2-7 Triple Draw, Five-Card Draw, Razz and many other rare variations, which you won’t be able to find at other rooms

PokerStars offers generous bonus deals and awesome guarantees. PokerStars is known for its generosity. For example, every Sunday they host 1,5 Million guarantee tournament. Speaking about tournaments, there is always massive 24/7 schedule. As of 2008, there are 22,500 ring-game players at peak hours and 155,000 tournament players at peak hours.

Overall, the PokerStars is really a top class online poker room, with great support and good software, which works well for both MAC and PC users, which is updated frequently.
