four people were indicted by jury this Thursday. They found guilty after committing a high-tech poker scam, when they entered room at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and have put surveillance cameras and audio recorders to spy on a high stakes poker player.
They rigged with a high-tech equipment in the nearby room of the same hotel. They were going to cheat with a high-roller poker player, which would cost him ten thousands of dollars. Hopefully for the victim, a group of four people got arrested before they even played poker.
The intelligent group of four people, developed a scheme, where they would spy on a high-stakes poker player, while playing with him in the nearby room.
Joseph Ingargiola, 51, of Las Vegas; James Harrison, 42, of Duluth, Minn.; Stephen Phillips, 53, of Las Vegas; and Steven Forte, 52, of Las Vegas - the magic 4 got indicted this Thursday by Atlantic County grand jury, on charges of second-degree crimes.
Second-degree crimes carry out a maximum of 10 year prison sentence and a fine of $150,000. Each of the them was bailed out on June 7, 2007.
Basically, they would spy on a player while he was playing Chinese poker. They choose the right player, a high-stakes player. They would spy on him with the cameras they installed while he was gone and would know his cards.
By the way, Joseph Ingargiola was also associated with a 1990’s poker crime he committed, when he was caught doing his first casino cheating. That time, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. This time, he won’t get off so easy.
“I don’t think I’m a threat to society,” Ingargiola said at the time. “I’m a totally nonviolent person.”
