French Wins Titan’s Poker $2,5 Million Tournament

Olivier Lombard is an online poker player from France, who recently won $2,5 million tournament from Titan Poker. A very busy person in real life, he was glad he found time for qualifying and playing in the tournament, after winning grand prize - $500,000!

According to what Titan Poker said, a 23-year-old Frenchman could have left without a seat in the tournament at all.

First of all, he nearly forgot to play at the qualifier, but in the last minute, he remembered to reddem his free token to play in $2,5 satellite and got himself in top five, which guaranteed him a seat.

Then Lombard faced another problem. He was planning to go on vacation, right in the same time when the tournament final stage was scheduled. Hopefully, it is online poker, and he was able to access Internet while being in Senegal, and played 14 hours straight, to win those $500,000! I guess it was totally worth it.

“I kept the stakes far from my mind and played as rationally as I could. I made sure to change strategy often during the game, depending on the opponents and the blinds,” Lombard said.

Lombard’s strategy worked fine, and he won the first place out of 1,596 other contestants.

Although Lombard (who plays under nick axp15 on Titan Poker) plays online poker for more than a year, he is fairly new a new player in the poker field at Titan Poker.

Here is a nice advice for all poker players, I suppose this could apply to ALL players:

“Never give up,” he said. “Always go for number one. Don’t content yourself with just winning satellite seats. Focus on the game, keep the stakes out of your mind and play your best.”

All poker players can follow some of Lombard’s advices and maybe even play with him at one table at Titan Poker!
