US Poker Players Are Unhappy With Republican Party
Poker players from United Stated and Poker Players Alliance (PPA) left some comments at Republican Party website, with requirements of defending the right of people playing online poker in United States and to change text project of Republican Party about online gambling.
Top poker player and winner of 2004 WSOP, Greg Raymer wrote:
“My point is simple. Is the Republican Party no longer the party of personal freedom and individual responsibility? Why has this party, that used to protect my rights, now become the party that wants to create a Nanny-state? Stay away from issues of personal liberty, except to remove old laws that restrict these liberties.”
PPA is saying, that internet gambling is a type of economic, where more than $15 billions are changing hands every year. PPA is saying, that online poker should be legalized, and it also should be regulated by law of USA, how it is done in other countries, where online poker is legal.
“Most of the republicans are negative about poker community”, - said John Fiery in his statement, his company represents interests of PPA.
Some of the comments on Republican Party website:
- I want you to support my right to play online poker. This is a billion dollar industry and there is no reason why it cannot be regulated. - William, New Britain, Conn.
- I have never been a single issue voter but if the Republican Party continues its opposition to the regulation of online gambling, I will vote for someone other than senator McCain. Clearly regulation and taxation is the correct position on this issue. - Tim, Dexter, Mich.
